Imran Khan, the former prime minister, recently spoke to the media for the first time since his imprisonment, addressing key issues and emphasizing his party's victory in the upcoming elections.
Khan refuted claims of negotiations or meetings during his time in jail, asserting that no one approached him for discussions. He confidently stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party would emerge victorious in the elections.
Responding to questions about the duration of his potential incarceration, Khan expressed indifference, declaring his readiness to sacrifice even his life. He attributed his arrest to what he termed the "London plan," alleging unconstitutional detention and linking it to broader events on May 9. According to Khan, the plan aimed to bring back Nawaz Sharif, imprison PTI officials, and dismantle the party.
Khan highlighted the May 9 incidents, claiming that Dr. Yasmin Rashid, visible in CCTV footage, was preventing people from entering the Lahore Corps Commander House. He called for scrutiny of the footage to identify those who led the alleged miscreants.
Denying false accusations related to Khawar Maneka, Khan criticized individuals making morally corrupt claims. He passionately asserted witnessing Bushra Bibi on the day of his marriage and swore an oath regarding the statement.
Turning his attention to the economy, Khan criticized the government's performance, citing a drop in growth from 6.17 to zero. He argued that people were aware of the situation and criticized the alleged actions of those in power.
In a separate statement, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, former minister and PTI member, dismissed the need for an official position within the party. He reaffirmed his support for Khan, expressing his commitment to stand by him without requiring a formal role. Qureshi encouraged PTI supporters to vote in the upcoming elections, emphasizing his continued dedication to Khan and the party.
