Afghan migrants cautioned to avoid backing or funding candidate in polls

ISLAMABAD: Regardless of their legal status, the Ministry of Interior on Monday warned both legal and illegal Afghan migrants to refrain from endorsing or financing any candidate involved in political or electoral activities in Pakistan. Violations of this will result in their deportation.

Afghan people living in Pakistan were advised that it was against the law to assist or finance any candidate for political or electoral activity in Pakistan, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior. "Any Afghan national engaged in such activities, irrespective of their residency status in Pakistan, will be deported."

It stated that the general public in Pakistan had been warned not to hire illegal aliens or help them find employment.

"Any information regarding any illegal alien or the individual who is employing him ought to be reported to the Ministry of Interior for potential legal action via the hotline (UAN 051 111-367-226, HOTLINE 051-9211685) available on the Ministry's website,"
