The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) released a statement explaining that the emergency landing was prompted by a 27-year-old passenger experiencing a sharp drop in sugar levels. The aircraft's captain promptly contacted the Pakistani Air Traffic Controller, securing permission for an emergency landing, which occurred at 09:30 pm.
Upon landing, Border Health Services (BHS) and CAA doctors were quick to respond. They provided immediate medical assistance to the ailing passenger, ensuring his well-being. The CAA further stated that the Indian aircraft would resume its journey to Dubai after refueling.
This incident follows a similar one in November 2023 when another Indian plane had to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The flight, en route from Jeddah to Hyderabad Deccan, was compelled to land urgently after a passenger suffered a heart attack mid-air.
Upon landing, the medical team conducted a checkup and unfortunately found that the passenger, identified as Zohra, had already passed away. The CAA spokesperson confirmed the sad outcome.
