The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) paid a visit to the party secretariat of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Sunday in retaliation for the latter's recent visit to Lahore.
In advance of the next general elections, the PML-N team, led by senior politician Khawaja Saad Rafique, sought to refute rumors of discussions on seat sharing with MQM-P officials
Speaking to the media, Rafique made it clear that there had been no talks about seat-sharing but emphasized the potential advantages of a partnership between the PML-N and MQM-P for the country as a whole.
In addition, he thanked the MQM-P leaders for their cordial welcome and emphasized the importance of resource allocation. Rafique emphasized how critical it is to develop the local government structure and address the issues facing the nation.Rafique emphasized,
"There was no talk of seat-sharing between us," and that the main topic of conversation was how to change Pakistani democracy so that it would actually represent the people.Speaking about the neglected state of Karachi, the head of the PML-N detailed proposals for reforms, especially in the first phase, and stated that he intended to move forward with negotiations with Pir Pagara of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).
The leaders of the MQM-P reportedly made their requests for both pre- and post-election scenarios during talks with the PML-N team.
According to sources, the agenda included three major constitutional revisions, new tactics, electoral politics, and the political climate in Sindh.
It is said that committees with three members each will be established to facilitate continuous contact and dispute resolution between the two sides.
Earlier this week, the PML-N asserted that both parties had reached an understanding to jointly compete in elections following the MQM-P delegation's visit to the party's Lahore office, where they met with President Shehbaz Sharif and its supremo, Nawaz Sharif.
But MQM-P, which regards itself as PML-N's principal ally in Sindh, claimed that this agreement amounted to little more than a formula for seat adjustment.
